The Caves in the Margaret River Region 3- 4 November 2011

The Suspended Table in Lake Cave.
The first cave we entered was Mammoth Cave.
An inconspicuous entry to what was an amazing spectacle.
Our pictures do not do justice to the beauty of these three caves but hopefully you get the idea.

The headphones are part of the self guided tour in Mammoth.
The other caves had guides take you through.

Stalactites and stalagmites galore in Mammoth Cave.

Amazing formations......millions of years in the making.

Descending down into Lake Cave.
This sink hole was most impressive and a lot bigger than the cave itself.

Stalactites in Lake Cave.

The Suspended table weighs over 5 tonnes. The water table has dropped and so it appears to be floating above the current water level and gives a great reflection like in the first picture.

Outside our final cave.

A group of 'Straws'. Hollow stalactites in the making. Jewel Cave is the home of the third longest Straw in the world measuring over 5 metres.

More colourful formations in Jewel Cave.

Around every turn there were new and amazing formations.
